Hey Everyone, interested to get some opinions if this tree across the trail was deliberate sabotage or a natural accident that cause me to crash. Luckily just a black eye as a result.

Context:
This is a short jump trail on the outskirts of edinburgh that i ahve ridden numerous times and within the last week (relative to the crash).

The landing of the jump is at the bottom of the 1st photo and yoy can see where my braking rear tyre landed. This is a bit of a dogleg jump which is why i couldnt see the tree.

As you can guess i came over the jump and went staright into it causing my crash.

I am confidant when i rode this trail less than a keek ago this tree was already down and after the crash then i moved it it was super light and the branches where snapping super easy.

You can see the position of the stump of the right anf where the tree fell and i am unconvinced this was a natutal occurance. There has also not been any string winds since the last time i rode the trail and its quite shetered here.

I wanted to see your guys opinion on it this was deliberate.

Sorry for the poor photos but the adrenaline was pumping.

Thanks in advance!

  1. Sounds like someone didn’t follow the steps of trail biking and skipped Pre/Re and went right into Free ridding. Could be sabotage or could have been someone blocking it off to do trail work. I ride where there’s a new downed tree almost every day so I’m used to seeing and moving this stuff.

It definitely looks like somebody put that shit there. If the tree had root rot or something and broke off naturally, it wouldn’t have rolled a few meters and placed itself up against the two trees on either side of the trail.

Your photo is really too clear to tell. Maybe you if you shook the camera a little more and we could get a definitive answer

  4. The tree may or may not have fallen on its own, but it was clearly moved into that position afterwards. So yeah, someone placed it across the trail on purpose.
