A pic of the completed route. I'm currently on a train for tens of hours and have nothing but time to reflect. While I recorded the experience everyday as a podcast (bookofmoron.podbean.com), ask me anything!
Did you feel safe on the roads as far as traffic goes? Out west in rural areas there’s very little traffic from what I’ve seen, but what about in Missouri or Kentucky for example?

Does Amtrak have a bike rack? Or do you have to wrap it in a box to bring it on board?

What’s your bike setup? What did you use for maps, nav, route finding etc? Also, what was your total spent at the end of your trip?

How often do you get stuck in Suburbia? I want to do a US tour but I friggen hate suburbia and want to avoid as much of it as possible. I’d like to see mostly small towns

Any good reasons why my trip next month shouldn’t grab Idaho from Nevada, turn south in Washington, then take the coast down?

How have you decided what percentage biking and what percentage train riding you would do?
I’ve considered doing what you’re doing and go for some portion wheels/ some portion rails…
When I put the plan down on paper, though, any amount of non-biking feels like cheating myself.
Was deciding on this aspect of the journey a difficult choice for you?

What were your Starbucks and McDonald’s orders? What other stuff did you eat? Any idea how many calories you were taking it daily?

What was your average daily distance? Was the west brutal with the mountains?
