350 mile round trips in one day with a Thule rack similar to yours with no issues. If anything throw a ratchet strap over the bike somewhere and hook it into the safety chain spots on your hitch for a little more peace of mind

  2. Keep the bikes on the car when you tow it. When I moved cross country I did take my bikes apart and loaded in the truck.

Hitch rack with bikes in the trailer is solid

  3. In one shot? About 750 miles to Bentonville and 750 back from Bentonville in the same week with TERRIBLE wind all the way through Kansas on the way out. This is with 3 bikes on my 1up rack. I’ve also driven To Moab and countless trips into the CO mountains. You’ll be fine.

A couple hundred miles out and back. You should be fine just make sure everything is tight and cinched down. Maybe put a cable lock on the bikes for when you pull over at rest stops

I put bikes on a trailered car for a much longer move recently. No issues. Pulling a trailered vehicle with a 20 ft box truck was an interesting experience and something of a challenge – maneuvering it in a busy town with limited parking during a staggered move-in was a pain. After all that an undocumented/ uninsured driver hit the bikes on the rack once they were off the trailer. Guess the point of learning was to get the bikes somewhere safe ASAP.

  6. It’ll be fine, my rack has probably 15k miles on it total from trips. Kuat NV 2.0.

If you feel uncomfortable go get some [silicone twist ties](https://a.co/d/2pEdh5b) and bungee cords and reinforce the contact points and to tie the bikes together in case one does get loose.

  7. Around 5000 mile cross country trip on a Thule roof rack and routinely do a few hundred mile round trips with my 1up hitch rack.

  8. Thousand miles to Denver and a thousand back for a family trip. Yakima stage 2 +2 with two e-bikes and one analog and then another on my roof rack. Was a bit worried but we made it.

  9. You’ll be fine. Just put a cable lock or use the integrated ones on them and check their tightness every stop

  10. Last month I went out to Moab with six of my buddies split between two vehicles. One was a Tacoma with five bikes in 1up trays across the bed, and two more on a 1up hitch rack. About 1,400 miles and change each way from Wisconsin to Utah and back. No issues besides the terrible mileage you’ll get carrying seven mountain bikes on one truck.

  11. Plenty of trips. The longest one was about 450 miles there and back.

Did this with the one up bike rack.

Coast to coast (and lots of trips before and after). Lots of wind and weather. Had a 1up with absolutely zero problems. Just periodically checked the tension in the hitch and I was taking bikes on and off every night so they were adjusted every morning.

Make sure to bring the bikes inside the hotel if you stop. Worst feeling is waking up in the morning and the bike AND rack are gone

I do a couple 900 mi (round trips) annually. It drives me bonkers when i hit rain or snowstorm and the bikes get saturated with nasty-ass road grime in every nook and cranny. Bringing everything in for overnight stays is an added PITA

  15. I’ve driven 1200 round trip with the bikes on Kuat NV 2, from NYC to Quebec City and back. Also do multiple 500-600 mile drives each season to central and northern Vermont.

  16. I wonder how bad the gas mileage will be on the truck when towing this car with a coffin and bikes in the back on a trailer. 😁

  17. This summer we did a 22 day road trip. Ohio to SD, Banff (Alberta), Glacier, Bozeman, Yellowstone, Steamboat, Golden, Home. It was 6,046 miles. Did it with 2 mountain bikes and 2 road bikes, and a car loaded with stuff.

  18. I’ve done over 25k miles on a 7-month road trip with my bike in a 1Up rack on my Jeep. I think you’ll be fine.

I use a 1-up rack. Put it on, lock it down and don’t think twice except just to do a OCD check that everything is tight every time I get out of the car for a rest stop or fuel. Get on the highway and just go wherever I have to.

  20. As long as the rack is solid and the holders on the tires are solid you are good to go for whatever length. Just check the tire holders and ratchets or whatever your rack came with every time you stop. Sometimes, with this type of rack, the front tire holder can wiggle loose over time or bumpy roads.

When stopped, make sure you do not leave your bikes unattended. If you have to make sure they have strong cable locks. Ideally, if you need to stay at a hotel at night, bring the bikes in with you. Do not leave them on the rack overnight.

  21. You’re gonna wanna put like 6 locks on each bike, that are simultaneously locked to the rack.

  22. Austin, TX to Duluth, MN straight through(1300 miles and 19 hours) both there and back. We went through some nasty thunderstorms with high wind too.

Two bikes on a Thule T2. Bikes were fine.

  23. 3000 miles last month round trip to Bentonville. Zero issues with my Kuat. I did throw the cable lock on the bike just in case.

  24. I’ve over landed about 6,000 miles in one trip across the US and Canada with bikes on a 2 bike thule.

  25. Slightly over 2000 miles round trip using my Quikrstuff rack (quite expensive!) that has been very solid the entire way. Tool-less (other than the security key) to put on the hitch and take off the hitch. Around ~25 lbs total for a single bike. Owners of the quikrstuff needs to knock down the price a bit more to be more competitive!
