I wanted to wait until I was totally done with this build before posting, but it's going to be cloudy and gloomy for the next week, so I got a few shots in yesterday evening while it was still pretty nice outside.

I love these GT Streamline series bikes and have a couple of them now. I've been sitting on this bike for the last year but had other projects to get through and finally started working on it recently. Typical deal here where I picked up the bike for $75 and then replaced virtually everything and sunk more than a few hundred bucks into it.

As I was taking photos, I messed around with the rear brake cable routing, so I have photos of the cable going both ways around the head tube. It's internally routed but the front hole for the brake cable is dead center in the top tube, so maybe the cable can go either way? I still have a few things to dial in here but am almost done!

For anyone interested in these, GT made a number of these comfort hybrids under various names with "stream" in them, including Gulfstream, Airstream, Slipstream, Streamline, Jetstream, Windstream and Autostream (and perhaps even more). I had read somewhere that this model (Airstream) was short lived because the Airstream RV company sent GT a cease and desist. I have no way of confirming if that actually happened or not, but it seems totally plausible.

  1. That things cool man! There was a period where specialized made their crossroads hybrid in curved steel in a similar way, it’s very appealing to look at!
