My neighbor gave me his old gen1 tallboy carbon a little over a year ago, and I haven’t had time to do anything with it until now.
It has an incredibly high-end build for the era. Formula the-one brakes, factory 32 fork, xx1, ec70 wheelset, etc. I race single speeds in our local series, and I figured I could turn this into a very lightweight SS XC race bike with minimal fuss.
It’s still a work in progress, but I took it out on its first ride, today, covering 11 miles of essentially gravel bike level trails. It’s definitely twitchy as all hell, and needs some cockpit adjustments, along with a small smaller cog (I forgot to swap it out given the tiny chainring), but it’s got promise.
And, it’s weird, which is what matters.

Is that just an old Shimano derailleur as your tensioner? Love the build.
What frame box is that? And are you just using an enduro strap to hold it on?
