Didn’t even get more than 2 miles from home before getting my first ever flat. I was thinking it would be a simple puncture and I would just swap to a spare tube. However, it was a big gash that is most likely from beer glass. Is this patchable? Any recommendation on products?
I’m only a little bit hesitant to replace with another 28c because I was planning to go with new wheelset and 32c after wearing down the original tires (less than 50mi on them).

Way too big for a repair unfortunately. Really bad luck that.
Tire is dead, not repairable. Time to put a nice GP5000.
A Park Tools Tire boot (3″ x 1.75″) will 100 percent work as a temporary fix.
If you ride away from civilization or higher speeds, probably best to change the tire soon after booting it.
Since it’s a rear tire, at modest speeds there’s really zero danger if the boot were to fail. So it’ll *probably* be safe to run until it fails. Most likely, the boot will hold for the remainder of the tire’s life.
