Test ride on the drops before committing to swapping the shifters. These brifters felt awful with cantilevers but somehow amazing with v brakes. Who would have thought 🤷♂️
Of course you can get it to work if you bring the handlebar back and up enough.

Those brifters will work with cantilevers more effectively than full length V brakes. Cantilevers when set up skillfully, may feel spongy or weak in the stand, but have great stopping power when running. Conversely, V brakes will give a very crisp and sharp lever feel and bite, but offer low brake strength when riding!
