Hi guys. I'm so confused and I don’t know what to do. I want to get a new frame. There’s one that has chain tensioners, brake bosses, etc., and another one that’s more of a street frame but has no brake bosses at all unless I get them welded on.
Safety should come first.
The problem is that I don’t really know how to brake with my shoes properly. On just one ride, my shoe ended up peeling.
So now the issue is the frame. Both are chromoly and they both look beautiful, but one of them looks cooler to me… it just doesn’t have brake bosses.
One is this one
VGBikes Lik 2 20.5 ( full street no brake bosses) (first images)
Distress Bikes Frame 2.8 (last one).
Thank you so much!

Not the one with the SS logo 😂😂😂😂
Wild design choices on the distress, for that reason alone I’d avoid that one.
FCK that “distress”.
How about you buy a bike from a reputable BMX company and not this garbage.
The head tube on that first frame is SEXY AF.
What brand are those? The first one looks amazing
Would say stay with what works best. If u have money buy S&M or Fit if not work your way down. Many solid options like Cult, Federal, Total, WTP, Sunday. I started on budget with Mongoose and looks like I replace the frame as last option. Just bought an eclat shift/ trippin Freecoaster wheel;-)
Why would you consider a brakeless frame if you want to run brakes?
I may be mistaken by the perspective but the red one looks like a park frame…
I don’t know how much these are worth or what they are but if you are buying a standalone frame it’s probably a better idea to save some extra money & get something nice from a well known brand.
I personally like American manufactured frames with full American 4130 chromoly. The metal is high quality, & the welders assembling them are highly skilled…
Avoid anything manufactured in places like Taiwan etc. just because a brand is an American or English brand that doesn’t mean it is manufactured in America with American metal.
My personal bike has an American made BSD beverage team frame… It’s probably getting close to 10 years old but it’s still straight, still feels solid, & despite some dents in the chain stays & a bit of rust it is still a great frame. It wasn’t cheap but it wasn’t the most expensive frame I could have bought either. About 1/2 to 2/3rds the price of a fbm frame I was also looking at at the time.
Buy high quality, & spend your money once.
