I ride alone 99% of the time, I know the video doesnt do this section justice but I wouldnt hesitate to hit it solo. I am aware of what I can and cannot do, and also aware I need to get myself to the hospital if something happens. Example: took a big digger in July on a solo ride, couldn’t lift my arm. Rode back to my vehicle, struggled to get the bike on the rack but got it, drove to the hospital and got xrays, a sling, and a few appointments with an orthopedic. Goin out for a solo ride this aftenoon.

I use Stravas text function and share my location with my wife just in case. But agreed, sometimes you just gotta get in. Having said that, remote locations (downeville, Tahoe, Graegle) I always ride with a few other people.

Tell them to shampoo your crotch…and go ride.

For 30+ years, my best riding has, almost always, been alone. Deep in the backcountry. Taking stupid chances. Somehow, my best superhero moments have all been alone. On three different occasions that has meant riding out with a major injury. Once was 2 miles with a broken clavicle on single black terrain. The other times were broken femurs on double black terrain. A mile downhill on the first and 6 miles of flat forest roads on the second. It can be bad. Most of the time it brings out your best

Are they just breaking your balls? That’s what buddies are for. Are they serious? Those are not your buddies.

90% of my riding is solo. If they’re giving you shit tell em they need to by ready and available to ride when you are. We’re all adults with responsibilities and limited time. Can’t sit around waiting on others to live our finite lives.

I always ride with my best friend. But he’s a hairy little guy with four paws. Not a conversationalist. Cant call 911 when I’m down. And when I do go down, I can see that he is judging my stupidity with the look he gives. If I take too long to get up, it’s followed by a lot of barking cause he wants to run.
He also on average poops 5 times on the climb, which I have to bag.
I ride “alone”, but I’m never alone when I ride.

I prefer to ride alone, time to clear your thoughts and switch off from everything else. I’m also super competitive so if I ride with someone who’s better than me it’s most likely going to end in a crash.

I like to ride with friends but I can only coordinate that about once a week. So I ride solo quite a bit. I love it..
As for risk, you can get hit by a bus on any given day.. So I don’t live my life calculating every little thing.. That sounds like a terrible way to live to me..

I think riding alone and setting up cameras to record yourself is weird.

So why are you telling them? I usually ride solo, and I have a good friend I always send my location and the trails I ride to — then no one can say anything. Are you complaining or showing off? 🙂
You are hopefully smart enough to know what is okay for you to ride and what crosses your limits. 🙂
