I need to service my suspension on my hardtail 2019 Roscoe 8. It seems buying a new one is cheaper. I’m looking for recommendations on what comparable suspensions would be an upgrade but also a great price at <$200.

Your price point is way too low.

All manufacturers are good.  The dual air spring systems from Ohlins and MRP will provide you more support higher in the travel so you are not losing your geometry due to excessive travel use.  This is what I would choose.

  2. Double that price and you can probably find some nice low milage forks on Pinkbike. I was in a similar situation. My 2020 Pike Select+ was due for full service which was going to be around $150-$200. I decided I’d rather just spend $400 on a new fork and I got a 2023 Pike Ultimate with low miles and it’s fantastic. I then sold the Pike Select+ for $200 as is and the upgrade essentialyl cost me the service cost and I have a brand new fork .

  3. Yeah spend a bit more, and get a new in box Select+ Rockshox for Performance Elite Fox off Pinkbike.

  4. These replies are awkward. Almost ANYTHING is an upgrade to a turnkey Judy. Including plenty of options around 200.

Whether its a Bomber Z2, 35 gold RL, or whatever.

Obviously secondhand would yield the best deals, but if you can’t find anything… Just grab whatever fits from Jenson: https://www.jensonusa.com/bike-forks?s=price-asc

    35 gold RL: https://www.jensonusa.com/rockshox-35-gold-rl-29-fork-2023-oe-packaged

If its 27.5 Jenson always has some Bomber Z2s laying around for ~200, but I believe Roscoes are all 29er now. Was the 2019 27.5 only? Orrr?

Even the Z1 coil option would be kinda rad, but not necessary for just a Roscoe. Usually a burlier long travel enduro option.

Jenson also may have some Yaris laying around.

And yeah those are the things to look for secondhand at that price. Either spend less and go secondhand, or save up more and buy from Jenson (with warranty intact, I believe… tho not sure about OE listings)
