I was on a ride on my Cento10 SL and my front wheel exploded while I was riding when I hit a bump on the road. i crashed pretty hard, but got out of it without any broken bones fortunately.

Contacted Wilier but they didn’t want to provide replacement wheel since bike got out of warranty in June even though this is unacceptable for me.

I keep wanting to buy some carbon wheels but then keep seeing shit like this , I often do 40 sometimes 50mph down big hills where I live and they are rough as fuck if this happened on those hills id hate to think what condition id be in. At least with good olde ally and tubes theres a good chance I wont die

  2. Holy shit this is exactly why I refuse to buy Chinese knock-off carbon wheels even though I *am* comfortable riding a Chinese knock-off frame. It’s insane that you had this happen with name-brand carbon wheels!

Man, that’s not something you see every day.

Super shitty of Wilier (or Miche) not to help you out. Did they offer a replacement discount at least?

  4. What’s going on with the double spoke or split spoke around 7 o clock on the rim? Looks like there are two spokes one nipple or maybe a spoke split in two?

  5. How high was the “bump”? Honestly, it doesn’t look that extreme based off the last picture, but that’s a pretty wild rim explosion for even a huge pothole.

  6. Miche wheels? Not common in my country. I would pursue them not Wilier.
Falling to pieces like this reminds me of Shimano Pro wheels. Better wheels would crack but stay together.
Note to self: No Miche wheels…

  7. The colour of your brake discs makes me think if you’re a heavy rider? Maybe outside the weight specs?

  8. Yes, it is unacceptable, but unless you want to lawyer up, not much you can do. But you’ve convinced me to avoid Wiliers.

Not surprised you broke that wheel tbh on a big pothole whilst running RideNow TPU tubes..
are they the 24g or 36g. I’ve had many pinch flats on rough roads with them that I don’t trust them anymore at the front any way. I run quite low pressures being 64kgs. Anyway they’re not solid, and I’m back on latex which allows for more stretchier imo when stressed .. tpu doesn’t do well in my experience on very rough road surface on skinny tyres (have 27mm at front/30 back)
