was about to finish cleaning my bike after a rainy muddy 200km ride, but suddenly heard this noise as I was lubing the chain.

Then I started spinning the hub, diagnosing where the noise was coming from then the whole freehub body went sliding meaning that the lock nut keeps on being loosen as I was spinning the wheel.

p.s. mechanic removed an O-ring that is supposedly for protecting the hubs from dirt because it expanded while on a ride making freewheeling hard. The hub is newly repacked a month ago.

what is this noise

The sound is friction which shouldn’t be there . Grease looks contaminated depending on what was used . Clean it out properly.
check condition of mating parts and bearings and then re -grease if ok the seal that was removed is there for a reason . Get another and refit .
