I bought a carbon frame with a crack in the seat stay intending to get it repaired. Asked for pics once the sanding was complete and he sent me this.
The crack could flex under pressure and the seller noted it would need a full circumference wrap.
The repair guy's analysis was "The suspect area of the rear stay of the frame has major fracture internally and will require three layers of carbon and epoxy"
I saw some videos online to get educated and never saw this much carbon applied to any repairs, but obviously I'm not an expert. Is this an appropriate amount?

Tbh my gut says that looks pretty crap but it’s impossible to judge from photos
The lack of feathering or paint removal at all is concerning
And there almost certainly is overlay onto the untouched tube meaning that the thickness is increased in those areas quite significantly
So I’d bet they did a triple wrap with a rectangular strip of carbon as opposed with what I do is a tapered rhombs shape. This makes a much less noticeable section of repair. It is technically can cause a stress riser the way they did it but it’s unlikely to ever fail. If they guarantee the repair and it was relatively cheap I’d not worry about it. If they are charging more than a few hundred bucks…. that’s not fair.
Also not a very well done paintjob but that’s not structural
