Do you carry wet wipes with you and enjoy frequent bathrooms stops?

The good thing about sweet stuff = fast energy. Carbs are slower energy, but this have intestinal push = on an 8 hour ride = need to uneat at the other end comes sooner. I usually eat the sweeter stuff at several times in the first few hours at the start the start, and hold off on carbs for 3-4 hours before the end

I love the walking tamales.
I also sometimes do a salty rice wrap – just rice (instant if i’m feeling lazy), salt, maybe a little black pepper. Tortilla or rice paper for wrap. You can add random stuff if you want like avocado or crunchy onions or something. i usually overcook the rice a tiny bit so its easy to eat.
I also sometimes will do pickles even though theres very little caloric benefit there just for a dose of salt and a palette cleanse.
Pringles are pretty bomb too and super easy to eat. I kinda eat like a caveman on the bike and just crush any sort of salty snack into tiny bits to eat in loose handfuls – pringles, potato chips, pretzels.

I used to ride in a group that once in a while a couple conti pros would show up to (I assume for their chill coffee / recovery ride while the rest of us were suffering…) and one of them would ride with frozen burritos in his pocket. He’d toss them in his pockets frozen, by the time he needed a snack they’d be body temperature warm

Man they would be good for a fartathalon. Ride like helll, stop , aim , and fart. If you are good you do it between your heartbeats so your aim is not compromised

It sounds good and I’d def try it.
Although, as a Mexican who loves cooking it bothers me that they’re called tamales when they are not tamales.

I need to find these. They sound amazing.
Most unusual ride snack so far is spam musubi. A rest stop on STP was selling them and I tried one. Nice mix of carbs, protein, saltiness and savoriness all in one.
If I’m on a bike tour or road trip I’ll pack a loaf of bread and a jar of Smuckers Goober for mid day meals, and maybe follow up with some pickles for electrolytes and to cleanse the palate. I’m also big on those little packs of peanut butter or cheese sandwich cracker sandwiches from gas stations on long rides, like when training for a century. I’ll buy a pack to munch on and refill bottles while I’m in the store.

sounds good. Fig newstons are a standby, like bananas.
For something smaller, I take larabars, <1$ on sales, just dates and cashews, can make your own, or some squares of Trader Joe’s 72% Pound Plus dark chocolate.

Ok, these things don’t come cheap but they come in a few flavors and are amazing on some triscuits or right out of the tin. This one has tuna, squash and almonds in a tomato sauce – my favorite.
I bought a case of those for my last bikepacking trip (12 days), packed about 5. They are a little heavier then my usual snacks, but they were a refreshing change from gas station food/sweets/dehydrated food. I would pack some again.
