Just noticed while replacing the cassette due to shoddy shifting.

Yes there is the sleeve behind the freehub body, end cap is torqued down. Bearings all felt fine so didnt fuss with them.

Definitely not missing anything as there is only the one sleeve as per all manuals.

Just can't think of what would be causing ~5mm of play here. Even if the bearings weren't pressed all the way in, that would've led to binding, not too much play.

Cool wheelset, dont want to have to rebuild it!

    This is axial play which can be caused by many factors. I would start by checking the end cap on the drive side. If that’s all good, it could be unseated, or worn bearings. Did you replace your cassette due to visual wear? This amount of play may result in shifting issues itself.
