I wouldn’t. Cottered cranks. Stamped drops..

Edit: wouldn’t hurt to try and sell them. But they aren’t worth much at all.

  2. Is there a bike charity near you taking donations? These look like all they need is some new grease and cables.

Do you mean vs just leaving them in the garage? Someone would take those, put them on marketplace or drop off at a thrift shop

  4. Yes, I’d try to find them a new home. If you have a little extra cash, you could fix them up and donate them to someone who can’t afford a new bike. You could gift or sell them to someone who loves vintage bikes. Worst case scenario, you can donate them as ghost bikes, or to a local artist to create something beautiful.

Hell yeah. Those are awesome and look like they are in good condition. Where are you located?

Somebody will definitely want those. If you happen to live in Wisconsin donate them to dream bikes. That’s an org that employs disadvantaged youth and trains them on bike mechanics and customer service, bookkeeping etc. they sell some of the bikes and donate others to kids who need them. There are similar orgs here and there

In my area, there’s a place where you can donate a bike. They are then upgraded by volunteers, and sold at very, very low cost or no cost, to those who really need a bike for transportation. They work with many local charities. Maybe you can try googling “bike donation near me…”? It would be a good thing to do.

These things look AMAZING. An old steel townie will always find a home. Echoing all of the calls to keep or donate.

  9. I’m looking for a new old steel bike in the right size! I’m sure many others would be too. If you’re in the Central NY area, LMK.

  10. There are lots of people looking for vintage. If I recall, the old Raleigh bikes were fairly well built.
