
We've had this sitting on the desk at our community bike shop for months, hoping someone would be able to identify it.
Some things are obvious. It's 25.4mm in diameter, and it has quill wedges on either end. A bolt connects the two wedges; it's threaded into the silver one, and tightens from the other end.
So the best guess is it's a sketchy steerer tube extender designed to connect two pieces of 1 1/8" tubing. It has no markings, but fit and finish suggest factory origins, not a tinkerer's creation.
Has anyone encountered one of these before?

Look up “gt flip flop stem”
Could be for an old GT flip flop stem. Basically a threaded stem that can flip flop like a threadless stem, GT did these in the early 90s
