There is no discernible model type on what is pictured but based on my conversation this is a really well cared for bike. Is there anything that could make it not worth $200? I talked them down from 225. I believe the holding system alone speaks to their upkeep of it but what do I know?

Looks like it’s all shimano except the front gearing is sr suntour.

Seller says last ridden this spring, replaced with an e-bike.

  1. Those pulley systems are available at harbor freight for like $7 I wouldn’t judge their maintenance based on that. That said, it’s likely hardly used.

Components look quite entry level but I cannot make them out from the single picture.

If it’s the style of bike you want/need AND it fits well AND it doesn’t need anything immediately, $200 would be fair in my market.

I would be prepared to upgrade things as it wears not just replace as this bike isn’t a poor base for upgrading. For example you can get already plumbed Shimano MT200 disc brakes with rotors for like $60 on ali express. I find these better than most any mechanical disc brakes and are super low maintenance.

If you can stretch your current budget $100-200 you can get quite a bit more bike on the used market.

  2. Seems like a good bike and a fair price. Main thing to remember is if it needs brake rotors and pads, tyres, chain, etc. then you could be adding 100 in maintenance when you could get a better bike at 300. So condition is key.

  3. “worth it” is subjective, because it’s actually two questions:

    – if the bike is perfect condition, is it the type of bike that makes sense for your intended riding conditions?
    – is the bike in acceptable condition?

At first glance it’s decent. I wouldn’t super feel ripped off @ $200 if it was in excellent mechanical consition.

How far do you intend to ride it daily, what does that route look like? How much stuff do you need to bring with you? Do you have somewhere to safely lock it once at your destination?
