This is a ride organised by the ‘League of Ordinary Riders, International Penny Farthing Group’. It was held over two days on 22 and 23 June 2024 and followed the old railway lines (trails), in Derbyshire.
It is an annual event, now in its third year.
The start was at Manifold Inn and took the Manifold Trail. Then Swainsley tunnel, Wetton Mill, Thors Cave, Yew Tree Inn Cauldon, Wetton Mill (again), and back to Manifold Inn for 21.34 miles on the first day.
On day 2 the start was at Parsley Hay and took the High Peak Trail. Then via Longcliffe to Bent Lane for lunch at Tissington. The return was on the Tissington Trail with a stop at Hartington Signal Box. The finish was at Parsley Hay for a day 2 distance of 22.87 miles.
Seven ‘Modern Ordinary’s’ took part, from Kent, Derbyshire, Powys & Cheshire. One rider of LEJOG on his Penny Farthing – “Fame” had an injury, but he took part on day one, on a bicycle modified to ride without causing difficulty with his injury.
