In this episode, Jenny and Patrick set out from Sully-sur-Loire on a beautiful morning, passing the chateau, and proceeding onto the eurovelo 6, La Loire a velo, bicycle route. They stop in Gien for lunch at restaurant, Cafe Bouche B, and to visit the city. They then get back on their bicycles and head for their final destination, Briare. As they approach the city they ride over the famous Briare aqueduct and stop in at a chocolate artisan, Chocolats et Chimeres. They end the video sharing the accommodations they had that evening at Au Lampadaire Briarois. A total of 22 miles, or 34 kilometers.

A second. [Music] In today’s cycle route, we begin in Sole Surawir. We will mostly follow the Lwir River along the Eurov6 Laoir cycle path. We will have lunch in Xien and end our day in Briar, a total of 22 miles or 35 kilometers. We woke up that morning to a chillier September day, packed our purses. There is the restaurant we had a fun and tasty dinner at the night before, Sushi Door, and said our last goodbyes to the picturesque chateau, Suli Surawir. We don’t know it yet, but these people will become our friends later on the trail. They are the ones we can thank for taking our picture that was featured at the beginning of this video. [Music] [Music] [Music] Behind us, the large group of cyclists we met earlier on the trail are taking a group photo. Patrick offers to take their photo and then of course we get our photo taken. Salute. She’s going to take ours. Where should we be? This is the How do you find? Thank you. What do you think of it? Of it. Oh, that’s great. Hello. I can do another sheep. Incredible. Ah. Those were tasty chips he offered us. The cyclist then asked Patrick what our final destination was that day and Patrick explained that it was Briar where we were looking forward to visiting a chocolier a chocolate shop. Mhm. Mhm. Mhm. Mhm. later in this episode. To visit the town of Xien, we had to cross the bridge and share the road with cars. Not my favorite. You’ll follow me. You’re okay with that? In 1940, the Lufafa, the German air force, bombed the bridge to prevent the French army from retreating. A huge fire burned its way through the town for three days, destroying 422 buildings. These buildings were built after 1946. Patrick and I are looking for a place to have lunch. We found a reasonable lunch menu at Cafe Bouch Bay. Patrick say cream and broccoli soup, right? Yeah. And it’s actually says it has the emulsion of smoked lard. Oh wow. So that’s the pork part on top. So now I understand what they meant instead of a a neat moussey kind of smoky thing on top. Patrick, this is our lunch. So we had the broccoli first and now we’re having this is dorad. Dorad um sabast. So I don’t know. It’s a fish. Yeah. Is it orange ruffy? It might be orange ruffy. Huh. I’m not exactly sure. I’ll have to look it up. D O R A D E is the first word. Tomatoes and B A S T E is the second word. Tomatoes and uh bular pilaf and the garlic sauce. Looks really really nice. After lunch, we visited the church which had also been rebuilt after the war. It looks like they use mainly red brick to rebuild. The wind was so bad making it difficult to hear my voice. But as I pan the camera, it becomes better. And the town um is on a hill. It’s steeped in history. Jenna Park was here. Um and that bridge over there was really neat. We crossed we went across it on our bikes. It’s an old an old bridge. All these homes I think were probably um built after the war World War World War II. So neat neat area. We got back on our bikes, left Jien and headed toward Briar. [Music] [Music] Hold up. Hi, Patrick. Hi, Jenny. We have arrived at the Briar aqueduct that crosses the Lir River. The aqueduct was built in 1896. It basically connects the Briar Canal and the Loir River system to eventually the Sen River system. So at one time an important transportation route transporting goods and people. These days there are a lot of pleasure boats along the canals. [Music] I feel [Music] like [Music] [Music] I can’t. [Music] And here is the chocolier chak e shame. And my bike is there, so I must already be there. Patrick and I sat down in the cafe, enjoyed watching the boat go by, and looked forward to our chocolaty treats. A chocolier specializes in all things chocolate. Patrick got a double espresso and chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce. And here is my hot chocolate and a bowl of chocolate. With our stomachs full of chocolate, we got back on the bikes and headed into the town of Briar. [Music] [Music] We stopped off at the laundromat to wash our clothes before checking into the hotel. We are in our hotel accommodation for Briar. Um, we’re at the top. So, you come up these stairs. You enter this door. Come up the stairs. And more bags are there. Got a nice bed. Looks really comfortable. Nice skylights. It’s cool in here. Very nice. Um, and Patrick’s sitting down on the couch. Hello. And there’s the shower and the little bathroom. And everything’s very clean and looks very nice. The couple that run this bed and breakfast offer dinner on certain nights of the week. We were lucky to be there on one of those nights, so we dined in our hotel that evening. They were so kind to write a menu for us in English. The starter was goat cheese with a garden salad. The main course was pork tenderloin with potatoes, which I did not get a picture. And the dessert was a baked apple with honey. We had a delicious dinner. When we woke up in the morning, there was a wonderful breakfast spread waiting for us downstairs. So much to choose from. and all so good. And we will leave you for now here in Briar with our happy memories and the house cat that was very well behaved. Goodbye.
