Someone recently posted about this, but the post was locked. When using the 8mm adapter on the tool, use it in combination with the Allen next to it for a tighter fit. It is not meant to be used alone.
Multitools are not meant to be used for regular maintenance they are at best for get you home repairs while out riding.
What you need is a good quality LONG proper allen key, Pedals can be really tight and there is no way you will get enough leverage to do the job without the proper tools.

Still a shitty design though. I feel like multitools after a simple small modified Allen driver set w/ a flathead and Phillips thrown in were a mistake. I hate the short shitty little arms on them. Something like this is perfection (8mm is the aluminum insert that attaches to the 6mm):
