First time servicing a BB so any suggestions are really appreciated. I just took down the previous one (which wasn't even torqued, only removed by hand), found it in this state. Have a new BB ready to go. But no idea what's the best way to clean and protect the inside before I install the new one.
Best way to clean and protect this BB shell?

Get rid of dirt, clean with soapy water, dry, grease.
At least that’s all I’d do.
Clean n grease it
Clean and grease
Bottom bracket thread chasing tool to clean it up. If still pretty rusty you can soak in vinegar and clean with a wire brush. To protect it coat with grease. Put lots of grease on the threads when installing new bb.
I would use dawn soap and a wire brush then dry it real good clean your wire brush real good then put just a little bit of grease just to light coat the threads.
Maybe a little bit of wd40
Rust cleaner or vinegar and a wire brush to clean, grease to protect. Water will still make its way through, so an inspection every season it’s the best approach.
WD 40 or Petrol should do it easily…
WD 40 ore like this, a toothbrush and then Grease
WD 40 wipe with cloth and grease it up after
if it’s a steel frame it will rust and nothing can stop it, just clean more often
Wire wheel on a drill, in n out from both sides. Spray with Corrosion Block. Done.
