  1. These are very common in the Netherlands (usually with three barriers), it's too stop people from speeding through choke points in pedestrian areas on bikes, scooters, steps, scateboards, etc. Because they need to get off in order to navigate them, it prevents collisions and injuries.

  2. Where I live, one barrier would have been cut down, as nothing can stop delivery bike riders from taking shortcuts, or people on motorbikes.
