Bought my first ever bike over the weekend off FB Marketplace for $200 and taught myself how to ride decently in about 3 hours. Quickly found out these factory plastic pedals can’t grip my shoes when wet, even if their existence depended on it, so I’m looking into buying either a set of composite or metal ones. The stock commuter-style grips also twist around a lot, and I will also look into a locking set. Please leave some suggestions for both, and I look forward to improving as a rider. And to anyone else scouring the depths of cycling subreddits, it’s never too late to pick up and learn a new hobby, even if you’re someone like me who didn’t know how to ride when they were a kid and wanted to start in early adulthood.

ODI for the grips.
Any decent MTB flat for pedals, or BMX.
Congrats on the new ride!
