So I currently ride this chungus for my commute and nipping to the shops (approx. 110 miles a week). Its still perfect for what I use it for. Space for big tyres and fenders, cheap parts and rack mounts to rear.
Only thing which lets me down is having rim breaks, not a problem in summer, but winter riding is a ballache. Simply not enough brake for an emergency stop when the weather is typically british.
I've been looking at the On-One Inbred and the Kona Unit which look like they tick all my boxes, but I'd be an idiot to not ask the community for suggestions.

I have no idea regarding the brakes… just want to congratulate you on a splendid looking bike..
Looks like a dream bike an how commuters should be built.
Why is the front hub so large though ? Is it a dynamo ?
Get a set of v brakes. A well set up v brake will out perform a lot of disc brakes. Classic Raleigh I had one
Love the bike. Do a bike check in it 🙂
Years ago on my CX bike I rode Paul components V brakes with Kool stop pads. Could easily lock the rears and do stoppies in any condition
If your brakes are slippery on rain then replace them for new ones and calibrate again. Absolutely no issues with rim brakes. also ride cautiouslyÂ
