Brother came over so my bike spent the weekend outside in the backyard. Out of sight, but someone still found it and went at my Kryptonite lock with what had to be a trash angle grinder (I say that because the plastic orange bit melted a bit). They couldn’t break it, so they slashed my tire instead. Shoutout Kryptonite. Do I need to replace the lock now?

I kinda of want to leave my bike out. And just hide with some mace and wait for someone to try something
Tired af with bike thief’s
Umm lol pretty sure that was just your lock rubbing on your tire. Angle grinder would be through that plastic in a fraction of a second. Like it would be harder to make that mark with an angle grinder than to actually cut the lock. I see this all the time. You do not need to replace the lock, the rubber and plastic parts are not essential (you can remove all of it, actually)
I’m not sure that’s what happened. The slashed tire is unfortunate. But that had to be a weak grinder by 19th century standards to only to that superficial damage. Seriously. If you’re planning to replace the lock, bash it against a rock to see how much more you damage it. While it’s oddly concentrated, I think that might accidental wear, like sitting too close to your tire.
That lock is great . i recommended to use a cable lock holding the tires and the u lock try to hold the back tired together with the frame and the cable on the u lock . u be ok after that. Or set something inside home like one if the wall bracket to put it on the wall .
