Completely new to mountain biking. Last bike I owned was when I was 11.

I’ve been on the hunt for a bike for a while now, but have an extremely tight budget at the moment. Went to drop off some recycling today and checked the scrap metal while I was there. Found this Diamondback 29, not a spot of rust. Took her for a little spin, didn’t test all gears but from what I did test it was very smooth. seems completely functional except for the left hand brake.

When I asked the fella at the gate how much he wanted for it he said they couldn’t sell anything from the tip at the moment as the revolve shop wasn’t operating, but he “didn’t see anything 😉”

I forgot to look at the model number before dropping it off for a service. Anyone happen to recognise what model/year it is? Curious how much it’s worth but I’m definitely keeping it. 🤍

  1. not a very high end model. even high end bikes are crazy underpriced rn, I see mfs on this sub recommended sale prices in shekels vs that inherent value of the bike.

this bikes not worth a whole lot. that fork might have issues down the line. solid intro bikes.

good luck tryna keep your costs down if you stay with it haha

  2. That’s a great find for you. Not worth much but it will do the job just fine. Enjoy and always wear a helmet.

  3. Cool for the start, don’t fall for the trap of upgrading tho, cheaper to get a better bike in the long run.

Only thing you might wanna have a look at at some point is better peddals. Makes it, safer and can be transfered to other bikes.

For now this will be totally fine, learn your maintenance, don’t think to much about better bikes and have fun!

its an entry level bike. I’d say it was like 300-400 bucks new. it’d work fine for light riding. I would call that a rail trail bike. have you looked close at it? is there anything bent or wonky?
