Finally finished with my first resto mod (for now)!
Put it together with as many 90s parts as I could get my mitts on, including a NOS Selle Bassano saddle with an extra bit of purple to go with the rest of the build.
Full specs:
18” 1997 GT Timberline in Titanium finish
Tioga Alchemy headset
Thomson Elite 25.4mm stem
Unknown cafe racer bars
Deore XT shifter/brake right lever and brake only left lever
Deore XT V brakes
Mavic X517 SUP rims laced to Deore LX hubs
Schwalbe Rapid Robs
Shimano Alivio cranks
Raceface 32t narrow wide chainring
Shimano STX RC 8 speed rear mech
Selle Bassano Frontera saddle
Really happy with how it’s turned out but I do prefer the look of a straight fork and have one from Edsen Steel Craft arriving soon. Would you guys switch out the original fork for a straight one or keep it as is? I’ve ordered the Edsen Coffee Rack also in the raw finish and think they’d go well together, although I do think it would be shame to split the original fork from the frame.
Will probably also increase the range of the 11-28t cassette for some light bikepacking next summer.

I love the crisp clean drivetrain and cockpit. Incredible work.
So sick! What is different about the fork that is on the way? I’d opt for whatever has better integration for your needs. Keep the original fork though.
What size tire you running in the rear?
