Since I only use my bike for work or to move from A to B, I usually don’t maintain it. And all the parts I’ve bought (cassette & crank) have been used.
I have to replace the chainrings and I’ve found few new sets for under $4O, but there are tons of used sets.
Should I just buy new regardless of the brand?
For example, Amazon has a brand called Harfington at $36. On the other hand, eBay has a used shimano set (https://ebay.us/m/gc9eXy) for $48.
Generally speaking, how do I decide? Is it fair to assume that the Shimano set from eBay is of better quality than the harfington from Amazon?

It is nearly impossible to measure chainring wear.
ethirteen is having an awesome sale rn, if any of their variants will work for you. just got a couple for $15 each.
Not sure I’d trust Amazon for any bike parts. Counterfeit parts are all over.

Let’s see. Trusted manufacturer that’s been around for a century vs a brand name spat out by AI a week ago? I’ll go with the first one.
For wear parts I’d go new, and from a reputable brand. There’s lots of good budget options if you don’t want to go Shimano. Harfington ain’t it.
