Hi guys!
I am the owner of a new app startup called GearFix and we aim to create an international network of qualified home bike mechanics. I am sure many of you are like me and worked in the industry, but have since moved on to other careers. However, you still love wrenching and are the go to bike repair person for all your friends! GearFix connects you with clients in your area needing bike repair. As a perk you get access to the same pro-deals you used to love while working in a shop!
Right now the app is iOS only (Gear-Fix on the appstore), but android and web interfaces are in the works.
If you are interested please reach out or apply on the app!
Thanks!
Cameron

So I provide advice and in return I get discounts on gear? I don’t hate it
What do you offer which BeeLine does not already?
Does the app take a cut? Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Also, I’m curious to see how these prices sort out in the long run. Looking in the app at $15 for a tubeless setup that includes valve, tape, and sealant. Especially absent industry prices on consumables, it’s hard to make that make sense.
I like the concept and willingness to start up a new project however would caution you that you may be taking on a gigantic liability by trusting any old ‘home mechanic’ with repairs that involve important safety concerns. Do you have a decent budget set aside for legal issues and/or a sizable insurance policy?
