Inspired by u/SirPingSweden ‘s Scott Peak build, I dug out my old childhood MTB and decided to revive it. This bike has been sitting in a basement for 20+ years but cleaned up pretty well and is still really fun to ride.

Next up I am going to build a custom fork with ISO disc mount and possibly convert the rear to disc brake also. Currently I running a 2.1” tyre on the rear but it can fit a Maxxis DTH 2.3” (just).

Parts list:
Deore 11sp 11-42 groupset (Ali Express)
Maxxis Pace 26”x2.1” tyres (Ali Express)
Custom machined stem adaptor
Thompson stem
Carbon riser bars (Ali Express)
Saddle (Ali Express)
Phillips seat post
DMR V12 Pedals
Generic V brakes

I haven’t seen many of these bikes restored/modded. Feel free to leave a comment or ask a question.

If you are interested, I have a story highlight of the complete build on my Instagram @jeremyyoungdesign account.

  1. I think those Scott Peak bikes are cool. Nice build! Why did you replace the cranks?

What are your opinion on those tyres? Can’t find a lot of reviews on these. Been considering them for my current build. Fast enough on tarmac?
