My kid (12) has been riding around the neighborhood with his friends. He’s been riding one of my old race bikes, a mosh royal 2 star with a few mods to it. He popped a tire and then dug out the cruiser from behind the tool box. The cruiser is a customized Mosh Rave with what I believe is an original (early 90’s) redline flight 185 single pinch crank. Looks identical to the ones in the photo.
The problem – the center piece of the crank is stripped on the right side, so the right side crank keeps falling off. I’ve been out of BMX for 25+ years now, but would like to get this fixed so I could either let him ride it, sell it, or part it out.
What am I supposed to buy to fix it? I have no idea what I’m looking for.

I’m pretty certain the “center piece” you’re referring to is the spindle. I recommend calling Albe’s, a mail order shop in Warren, MI, and ask for Flip. He’s been around long enough to have an idea on whether the current Redline Flite spindle will fit the older crank arms or not. They just might, since those cranks were the go-to in their day Redline still makes them for old school enthusiasts. I know the arms now have a dual pinch system but the spindle/arm interface may well be unchanged. If Flip isn’t there call Powers BMX in Richmond, VA and ask for Chad. Lastly try Tom at Empire BMX in Austin, TX. The knowledge these guys have will probably get you a faster response than going through Redline’s customer service.
As other answers, it’s gonna need a new axle.
As to whether the current redline 8 spline fit or not, I’m not sure.
