Put 37mm Pathfinders on mine – i think there may be even more clearance closing in to 40mm as the reasonable limit. I believe the GRVL version has pretty much the same frame and fork – only the gearing/ shifters and handlebars are different.

I did quite the opposite. Went from 45mm continental tires to 35mm vittoria tires (mainly for road use – hence smooth). I call it my Paris-Roubaix setup ^^ so far also very happy with it.
