Hi everyone, so after a lot of back and forth, I finally jumped ship on rim brakes. Found a Twitter Thunder Disc with 50mm carbon wheels, integrated handlebars and Mech Ultegra for $1850. Now I know that is probably overpriced in most markets, but in my market (South American country) disc brakes are still a bit rare. Plus the bike is pretty much race ready and it's obviously more future proof, so I couldn't resist the urge and I pulled the trigger.
My rim brake bike is a Specialized Amira Torch Edition, Ultegra di2, Toseek integrated handlebars and Superteam wheels (I know they have roval decals, the guy who sold me the wheels put them lol). Gorgeous bike but geometry is a bit outdated (new bike is a bit smaller and more aggresive) and putting any more money on it at this point is like mantaining an old car.
Anyways I now want to recoup some of the money and as much as I'd like to n+1, It'll do no good to have another bike sitting around most of the time. I spent a significant amount of money on my Amira, probably way more than I should but what's done is done. I was thinking about migrating the Di2 components to the new bike, but since the new one is equipped with hydraulic brakes, my options are somehow getting the hydraulic di2 shifters (very expensive and difficult to find) or using hybrid brakes (hydraulic pistons actuated by regular mechanical cable, not as expensive but still probably like $100 extra). I'd also need to get mechanical shifters to sell the bike. It's not that I dislike mechanical shifting, It's just that Di2 is soooo nice and I already miss the extra buttons on the hoods to switch pages on my garmin or music whenever I'm riding on my MTB with mechanical XT.
So yeah, I'm not sure about selling the Amira with or without the Di2 components. With Di2 I was thinking maybe $1500, I've seen way worse bikes sold or offered for more money, I even bought this Amira for roughly the same price with mechanical ultegra and heavy wheels.
