I fucked up many times, but also learnt many things while building up my first bike from scratch.

I learnt that you can bleed Magura brakes with water, that truing wheels sucks, that a left thumb shifter upside down is awesome as a rear shifter, that some headset top rings are infuriatingly tight fitting, and that you can make lots of stuff work without the proper tools, but it will put you in a bad mood for the rest of the day. I still prefer spending my money on cool bike parts though!

Still want a hope mini front disk to complete the build – realized a little too late that the project 2 forks I bought are for 700c wheels… but luckily they have a disk tab!

I also have these sick salsa semi rims that I want to use for my first wheel build… but I might chill for the moment as I’ve spent the past couple of weeks obsessing over this bike 🫠

  1. Axle-to-crown length honestly isn’t usually much different for 26″ and 700c forks in general, and it looks fine on here. Building a disc wheel for the front will be a fun project over the winter season.

I also really like how the cutout shape of that saddle shows off that cool seatpost hardware!

Bro you have no idea how hard this build goes – the words behind the build also really paint a beautiful picture of what it’s like to hit the ground running and doing it yourself. Enjoy my friend!
