Wanted to do a quick bleed on my front brakes and noticed that one piston wouldn't retract when pushed back and made a crunchy noise, I took it out and it was indeed cracked… I know they are fragile but is there something I can do next time to avoid it? The bleed block I have doesn't fully cover all 4 pistons, it must've slipped and I think I was pushing the lever too hard which caused it to crack. I have a cheap bleed kit from aliexpress… Should I buy a kit from a reputable manufacturer?

you want even pressure over as big of an area as possible with tool material that is relatively soft.
I usually use this tool:

but a thicker paint stirring stick also works. or some plastic sheet clippings
put the stick through the caliper until you can grab it on both sides and push as evenly as possible.
as far as bleeding blocks. just go to your LBS. most I know have a sizeable bin of all the blocks that come with new calipers that no one wants.
