Wolverhampton might not shout the loudest, but it’s got one of the best food scenes in the UK, from viral wagyu pastrami sandwiches, Midlands chip shop classics and desi-pub royalty.
In this episode, I hit the streets of Wolverhampton to uncover the best food spots in the city. First stop, Malik’s Butchers, a family-run halal butchers that blew up on TikTok for their unbelievable wagyu pastrami sandwich, dubbed “the most expensive sandwich in the country.” The Maliks are larger than life, and their story is a proper British success. Passion, graft and community spirit all rolled into one.
Then I dive into a Midlands classic, orange battered chips at Ocean Fryer, a golden local delicacy you won’t find anywhere else. From there, I wander through the Wulfrun Centre, chatting about how the government’s neglect has left high streets like Wolves struggling, but also how local pride still burns strong.
Finally, I wrap up at The Desi Yew Tree, one of the Midlands’ best desi pubs, to meet the owners and talk about Wolverhampton’s food, culture, and resilience.
This isn’t just a food vlog. It’s a love letter to the Black Country, its flavours, and its people.

Forget everything you thought you knew about Wolverampton. This place is absolutely unbelievable. Today I’m eating at three of the best places in Wolverampton. From a familyrun butcher selling massive Wagyu pastrami sandwiches to a classic Midlands chippy doing battered orange chips and topping it all off with the best desi pub in the city serving enormous mixed grills and curries. This video might just be my favorite yet. If you’re new to the channel, I’m Jonno. I started Only Scrs on Instagram in 2018 and blew up in lockdown. I’ve got over 1.5 million followers across my social media and now I’m on a YouTube mission to show the world that the food in the UK is not [ __ ] I visit towns, cities, and villages up and down the country, showing you the best spots, chatting to the restaurant owners, and eating like a king. So, if that sounds like your cup of tea, subscribe for more videos just like this one. This is worth every single [ __ ] in my pants later on. First up is Malik Butchers in the middle of an estate on the outskirts of town. The passion these lads have for their food blew me away. Put your biceps away for starters if you Okay. I’m Adnan Malik and this is my younger brother Manalik and together we run Malik Butchers. So Malik Butch is a third generation business. It was started by my granddad in 1970. Passed down to my dad. He got bored of it. Gave it to him and then he had a crazy idea in 2020 about what he was going to do. I told him not to do it but he did it anyway. Yeah. So my food passion started from a young age when my mom was uh cooking curries. I was fascinated to figure out how did she make the sauce for the curry. From that that sort of started a thing within me where I wanted to know the processes of food. So growing up in the butchers and growing up being British Muslims, we had sort of obstacles to the food that we wanted to eat. So, we were limited because obviously as immigrants coming to the UK, our parents were very strict about you can and can’t eat these foods because as Muslims, we’re coming to a country now where not everything is halal, right? And for them, they were very restrictive. We’re always looking for what is the opposite to what we’ve been used to at home. How adventurous can we get because of the fact we haven’t been adventurous as kids. Yes. So, we will try stuff that might not suit the palette, but we like the idea of it being different. Yes. And that’s what remember food is not just how it tastes. Food’s how it makes you feel. And and and there’s a burning desire within us to be like the rest of the people here. And then ultimately, I’m not going to use I had a hard one. I’m just don’t use that. I had a burning desire for cats delies, you know, pastrami reuben. I wanted that. I love the story behind it. I love the history of it. I wanted to create something like that. So, we we got the business set up. We based it on the sausages and then it sort of snowballed from that. The concept then became good quality artisal meat for the halal market. And I wanted to do like a sort of Delhi counter. Okay. Okay, so with the Delhi concept, what we wanted to do was introduce our customers to the fact that we are now curing our own in-house meats. We’ve created chicken slices. We’ve got lamb, ham, Korean beef, shredded lamb, and obviously the Wangu pastrami. So, we thought, right, how can we package that up as a concept? And realistically, it became about the toasties. That was what everyone wanted. Initially, we were like, look, we got meal prep boxes, we’ll do sandwiches, we’ll do toasties. But the toasties is what really blew up. Once we clocked this formula of toasties, it was like, “Wow, now we’ve got this amazing menu where you’ve got a lamb and cheese toasty which uses lamb ham. You’ve got a Korean beef toasty which is the Korean beef. The shredded lamb toasty. We put an onion bargie in there. We put my mom’s chutney in there as well. A very desy flavored toasty. And then obviously the piesta resistance and the showstopper is naturally the waggi pastrami which is known as the UK. You know, I wouldn’t sleep on the steak and onion either. I wouldn’t sleep on the steak and onion. That is a fantastic sandwich as well. Here we go. This is the Wagyu pastrani. Someone messaged me actually and they were like, “I’d appreciate it if uh you could show food as you eat it.” So, I’ve got this mad wide angle lens so you can see the food as I eat it as well, cuz normally it’s just my face eating. Not really what you want to see. You want to be able to see the food as well. So, thank you very much for whoever that was who DM’d me um saying that he watches me on his lunch breaks at work. So, here we are. It’s for you, sir. Look at that. It looks unbelievable. Let’s go. Oh wow. They’ve achieved something here with this sandwich. The only other place I’ve tasted it two times I’ve tasted something a sandwich that made me salivate this much. Once was Cat’s Deli in New York and the second one was Laggers Deli in Los Angeles. Both of those places are considered to be the best of the best of pastrami. There’s like three layers of pickles. So, you’ve got the pickled girkin, the sauerkra, and the pickled red cabbage. The sharpness, the acidity, you’ve got the crunch of the bread. The bread caramelized up on the outside. Look, the bread buttered to with an inch of its life and then pressed with that gorgeous cast iron sandwich press. I think what we’ve got here at the Delhi is unique in the sense that almost every single toasty here has got a flavor profile that is not available elsewhere. So the meat obviously all comes handcrafted in store. Then when we put the flavors together, it’s not like a traditional mix. It’s stuff we’ve kind of just made up off the cuff. Yeah. One of the things hopefully that you’ll notice when you try some of the the samples will will be the fact that everything’s very unique. Like a lot of the customers say, you can only get a Malik at Malik. When they want a Malik, only Malik will spot. We’ve had to work a scenario where we’re in one of the most deprived areas in Wolampton. Our shop is in between terrace houses, as you’ve seen. It’s small, you know. Um, and what we’ve had to do is we’ve had to sort of go out out there and grab the customers, you know, we’ve we’ve had to give them a reason to get here. And to be charging £20 a sandwich in the middle of it, Marines in Wolampton is wild. Do you know what I mean? But it works. And we sometimes can’t make it quick enough. So this was our front room. Yeah. We grew up fighting five brothers and sisters. Our mom, my dad upstairs, but we used to play cricket here. So we used to we used to play cricket. This was this was there’d be customers here like this customer like this. We’ be steaming in steaming in pulled out with a hard cricket with a hard cricket ball. There be customers there. The shop be there. We be there with a bat board just and we broke the uh uh glass counter so many times. My dad refused to put glass in it and he got plastic sheeting cuz we used to play full. It was a wholesome place to be. It was a wholesome place. It was great growing up. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It made me who I am. As a family, we love watching cooking programs. We’d watch stuff and then we’d say, “Let’s make that.” Then when we’d go to eat it, it wasn’t that great. And then what our mom used to do is our mom used to curify everything for us so that we can eat it. I’ll be honest with you, cooking a good curry is potentially one of the hardest things about so for our flavors, you you get a good curry and now that process is so difficult. Now, if you can master that, then a lot of other cooking becomes easier. I thought you said he got enough footage. You keep [ __ ] babbling on. I’ve never been to a place on the channel where I’ve laughed so much before I’ve eaten a thing. The lads were on form. They’re [ __ ] hilarious. Do you want to come in? Come on. So, what were you standing out there? What were you waiting for? You thought it’s police. Yeah. No. No. You thought it’s police? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, what you having? What you coming from? Go on. Tell him. Tell him. [ __ ] tell him. Where am I going on the CD? Yeah. No m dog is shy now. Shut it down. Did you have it before? Delicious in it. Tell him. Say [ __ ] get married now to Malik as well. That’s what she said. Don’t put that in. Got a smile then. Get your teeth out. Great teeth. Get a face. No, you [ __ ] don’t. Get your money out. Get your money out. Yes, bro. You’re addicted to it. Yeah. He’s gone through the whole lot. Whole menu, man. Whole menu. What are you settled on now? Or is it rotational? Rotational. But what you having today then? I might go for the steak and onion today. See, I told you you man are sleeping on steak and onion. No, steak and onion is my steak and onions is a great sandwich. So, with Waggy Prami, obviously that’s the showstopper, but steak and onion now is going to be the next big thing that I’m going to push towards the audience. Malik Butchers are doing things very differently from anywhere else that I’ve been on this channel. They were born and raised in this house. This is as family run as you can possibly possibly get. I I don’t think I’ll ever give this this place up. This is home in it. It’s like you can see how we are with the customers. Cooking something and watching people eat it and enjoy it is one of I think life’s pleasures. I don’t think there’s anything better than feeding somebody your your product and they’re saying, “Yeah, it’s delicious.” It It makes me proud every day. I walk in here, I think. Yeah, this is nice. You got a nice cafe, mate. I hope you’re enjoying this video so far. It’s It’s off to a blinding start with people like this. Just point and shoot and it’s just magic. I don’t have to do I don’t have to do anything. Sometimes I interview people, it’s a bit like getting blood out of a stove, but with these guys, Jesus Christ. They give him some sample. They give him this taste. I’m giving him kebab and lamb chops. I don’t know. I want the taste. We’ve talked so much [ __ ] about it. If he’s if he was a customer, I’d make him eat all this [ __ ] as well. The guys had to listen to your [ __ ] for 2 hours. He deserves some [ __ ] treats. [ __ ] frick. I apologize for the exploitives. There are more exploitives than usual in this video. I just get the apology out there. You just had the first bite. I can’t believe you just nicked that off him. Bro, this guy’s terrible host, isn’t he? Just [ __ ] terrible. Eat it. Eat it. Go. Go on. Forget this. You don’t have to record it. Come on. Get in. Get in. What? I stop eating all of his food. So, we’ve got the Wagu. I’m excited for this. That’s great. That delicate bit of butter, a bit of salt. It’s really really like rich. You can tell melt in your mouth. Yeah. Look, look at that. Look at that piece. That’s the piece you want. This is the big marbling on that. That’s unbelievable. Yeah. That’s so good. There’s a reason why it is what it is. Yeah. Watch any one. You just go with a lamb chop first. [Music] It’s all right then. Oh yeah. So that’s a yogurt and mint coating that. Yeah. Yeah. It’s not um overly powerful. It just It lets the meat show off. Yeah. That’s what you like, right? The meat’s good. You don’t need to drown it in like mad marinades and that. You just don’t need to. Sometimes you walk into a place and you just know that everything is going to be mega lamb chops. Unbelievable. Didn’t have to have too much marinade on them. They were just perfectly done. So, they add a little bit of a flavor, but they just it just brought out the flavor of the meat more. Um and looks so tender. The sausage sausage while they’re done marin cooking this this done well. Thank you. I could go for the kebab. The kebab slightly different to that chutney is unreal. It’s all right. My mom’s recipe. No. No. I tell you one thing. My mom’s chutney is way better than that. Yeah. This is a that’s a bastardized version of the original. It’s a commercialized version. It’s a little bit more easier for pallet. The the original chutney is a little bit more intense sense here. There’s loads more other stuff I want you to try as well. Hey, I’m keen. Look at this. This is the shredded lamb rice box. They’re having a meeting in the office now. So, I am now in the kitchen where there are people in here just chilling out. What are you cooking? It’s a lamb. lamb and cur beef. There you go. Lamb and curry beef. It’s cooking in the background. Um, and I am just going to smash some of this shredded lamb. It’s good. That Did you cook that here, do you? Yeah. Wow. Can’t go for that chutney. It’s so good. This is like the whitened down version. I’d love to taste the original mom’s own. This is a shredded lamb. So that is 8 hours slowcooked lamb and then we’ve got an onion barge in the middle which can be chopped up with it. So you’ve got the Kenyon recipe which is chuma which is a shredded lamb which is basically just translates to grilled meats and then you’ve got the onion bargi which will give it that sort of Pakistani desi element. And then as she prepares the sandwich here I’ll show you. So you’ve got artisal bread. So this is fresh from our local baker. You’ve got mint yogurt. We’ve got a momum’s chutney sauce which is a coriander and chili based sauce. And then we’ve got something called kuchumba, which is a mixture of salads with a coriander leaf in there as well of of vegetables and and um uh chopped up finely. And that when it goes together with the cheese and the meat, it’s going to be phenomenal. That’s why he’s back again, isn’t it? I love the chaos of this place. It’s why walking into like a sitcom or a TV show. Feel like everywhere I look, something else is happening. There’s meetings going on here. Cooking curry in here. I’m eating in here. It’s the most dynamic place I’ve been in some time. I could honestly have sat and chatted to the boys all day. I left with sore abs from belly laughing and eating about 5 kilos of meat. But the format of these videos is hitting three places in a day. So, we’re headed into town to find a chippy. Thanks very much. See you in a bit. Oh, tell you what, what a place that is. I have never in my life been in a place like that. From the food to the vibe. I ended up in the meeting with them um with these guys who they were going to sell some meat to or whatever for their restaurant. And I was just in I was just in there just helping consort on menu items. Honestly, what a bunch of guys, man. Right now, I’m going to go head to a chippy to get some orange chips because I’m in the Midlands. And if I don’t got orange chips when I’m in the Midlands, I don’t deserve a YouTube page. Let’s [ __ ] go. Right, we’re in Wolverampton. This these wolves I’m walking around. It’s called Market Square. So, Wolverampton is not known for being a beautiful city of architecture, anything like that. A lot of the people I’ve spoke to today have said, you know, why are you here? It’s a [ __ ] hole. But so far, the people I’ve met have been just just unbelievable. The unbelievable characters here. I think that’s what makes this place a little bit special. I think that’s where we’re going. Ocean. Normally, I’ll call ahead and say that I’m coming and is it all right to film. I’ve not spoke to these guys yet, so they might not even let me film. But I want some orange chips anyway. Go. After careful deliberation, I settled on the ocean fryer. Hey, mate. How’s it going? You all right? Oh, good. Good. Can I get portion of battered chips, please? Brilliant. Cheers. Orange chips. Absolute staple. Staple of this part of the world, man. Just as good as our It’s not. an all over the UK thing and I’ve got a video just on orange chips you can watch there. I’ll get that over there. Why this hasn’t made it out of the Midlands and isn’t all over the UK. I will never know the answer to that. This fish and chips very good. Nice. [Music] £7.90 for fish, bad chips, and curry sauce. Oh, that’s a deal. That is a banging deal. It’s the bossing. You’re the boss. Just want to chat about orange chips. I’m doing a video for YouTube. Can I chat to you for like 2 minutes about it? Is that all right? Amazing. So, what’s what’s your name and how long have you been working here? Well, we we’ve had this shop nearly about six years, six and a half years. When we first started as plain chips back in the 80s, 90s batter chips just got recently in the last 15, 20 years. Yeah. So why do you think they love batter chips here so much? Black Country chips in batter chips. Black Country chips. That’s what you call it. You only get the Black Country. You won’t get any anywhere else in you go past Stafford, you walk up to Stafford. You go past Great Bridge, West Bro, you all get batter chips there. The special thing that you have around here. Listen, this place is dead cheap as well. That deal is like what was it? £7. Well, it’s Well, you had small fish and chips with a pot of curry sauce. $7.95 and that’s eating. You can’t grumble with that. And our batter chips are vegetarian. We we fry them separate. We don’t fry all fish in there. Our batter chips are pure vegetarian. Really? Yeah. We got a fish. Yeah, of course. Yeah. Thanks for having fish. Thanks very much, mate. Cheers. If you are enjoying this video, by the way, please do give it a like, comment where you think I should go next, what city I should visit next, and subscribe for more. is there are loads more videos just like this one speaking to these legends who own these places about their journey about food, their passion for food, the community, the place they live, can learn a little bit more about the UK. We can learn a little bit more about each other and it’s just a good vibe. So give us a subscribe. How’s it all going then? How’s business going? All right, it’s all right. like any it’s all right. Yeah, you get your good days, you get your bad days. That’s what it is. Try to have good days all the time. Boston Wolverampton like as a city. It was a Friday city one time. Really? People got to wish the W football team play well. We get get somewhere early that we play even B. Well, we get a lot of a lot of fans coming in here like before the match. They like how we call the ships walking down to the ground any but the wolves goes down. It may it’ll make a big impact on Wolampton too. They call dad kill big time. Normally when I do these vids I call ahead let them know I’m coming ask if it’s all right to film. Ask if I can do a bit of filming in here and that. Uh but today I um I didn’t do that. I only did it with the butchers. I did it with the desi tree. There’s a big gap in between that I needed to fill. So, filled that with the Ocean Fryer. And um what a lovely chap. And these these are amazing. Honestly, there’s some absolutely spectacular orange chips. If you do find yourself a wolves, get to the ocean fryer because I mean, look at it. Look at it. This is as old school chippy as he gets. Thanks very much, mate. See you again. Take care. Right. I need a piss now. Where is I think this is the Wolfin Shopping Center. We’re going to go in the Wolfin Center. Let’s have a look what this place is all about, shall we? Not many shops that I recognize in here if I’m being completely honest. Gregs. I think every shopping center’s got to have a Greg’s Poundland. Fret shop. Never want to be negative about anything about any of these places. When you walk through somewhere like that, there’s just nothing. There’s nothing on offer. We’re right in the middle of Wolverampton. like central over Hampton and the council has just let it decay a bit. But the people here are so friendly. It deserve better than than the council and this government is given to be perfectly honest with you cuz that that mall there you no one’s going in there to go shopping. There’s nothing in there that you can buy. All the shops are completely empty. You can get anything that you want online these days. You know me, you know this channel. I don’t slag places off. This isn’t misery porn. This isn’t just, you know, being negative for the sake of being negative. This is just I just [ __ ] It pisses me off. It just pisses me off because I know for a fact that will have been filled with good shops back in the day and places like this with [ __ ] amazing people and an amazing multicultural community sort of being left behind. And it’s a [ __ ] massive shame, every single town, every single city has just been left to the dogs. Unless it’s London or Manchester. I mentioned this in the Stoke video and quite a lot of people in the comments were were talking about it. Could you not right just tax like do 0.5% tax on people who’ve got like assets over like a billion. It’s nothing. No skin off their nose really. Like people were like, “Oh yeah, but then the billionaires will leave.” It’s like, “No, cuz I feel like the better this country is for everyone, the better is for them as well. They won’t go anywhere else. They’ll stay here because everywhere will be better and people will have more money to do stuff. I don’t know. I don’t know the answer. Am I a hippie? Am I [ __ ] leftwing? Am I a [ __ ] libtard? What am I? I don’t know. I don’t really do politics. All I know is that I really, really like people in Wolverampton and I think that they deserve a hell of a lot better than they’ve been given. Right, I’ve got my own app. It’s called the Only Scrs app and it’s completely free and it’s got all my recommendations that I’ve ever posted on the internet on there as well as all of yours as well. There’s a lovely community of food lovers on there and they all post their recommendations. They give reviews, they post photos. It’s a lot better than Google Maps. And if you’re in an area and you’re unfamiliar with the area or even if you want to find some new places where you live, just open the app, it will find your location and then simply go through them, have a look, see what you fancy, and go. The link to download it is in the description, completely free. I would be an incredibly stupid [ __ ] if I came to the Midlands without visiting a desi pub. For those who don’t know, these look like normal boozers from the outside, but the landlord is usually of South Asian descent, and they double up as a curry house. The Desi Utri is one of the most popular ones in Wolves. Located in the middle of an industrial estate, I went in to sample its delights. How long have you worked here owned this place then? We’ve been here 21 years now. 21 years. 21 years. Yeah. A long time. It is a long time. It was only this this room when we took over and then we extended it and extended it. So, it’s been it’s been a good good journey to be fair. What I love about this place, it’s got these booths. At the moment, they’re playing smells like tea and spirit, but these booths will be playing the footy when the footy’s on. So, you can come in here, sit down, have pints over there, come and sit down here, have a curry, watch the football there. Do you know what I mean? Like the desi pub. Why isn’t it all over the UK? Why is it just in these little pockets in the Midlands? I know there are a few in London. I know there are a few in London before you sound off in the comments about it, but this is where it originated. And you’ll be hardressed to find a pub who isn’t a desi pub around here. Um, you know, the South Asian community is massive in Wolverampton. It is enormous and that’s why they’re just gizers. They’re just landlords in pubs. And because they’re amazing at cooking or they know people who are amazing at cooking, get make them into a curry house. It’s [ __ ] genius, mate. What is the most popular item on the menu? Medium sizzler chicken tikka masala. Very popular. No problem. Do you like masala chips or something? Yeah. Yeah, we do masala chips. Masala chips. Did you want just a like plain nan or like a one of the des? Try the desan. Desan. Yeah. Sounds. Yeah. Yeah. What’s the difference between plain and the dan’s got a bit of everything in there? Really? Yeah. All right. All right, stand. We’ll do that. It’s lovely. It’s lovely. Brilliant. What is this? That’s the des. Desi naan. Yeah. Wow. That looks mad. What’s the kimat coriander, garlic, and the chili? KA cheese, coriol over here. It’s called This is for Wow. Yes. Bro, thank you, mate. Here we go. Cheers. How long have you been working then? Um, eight nine years, I think. 9 years. Yeah. You enjoying it? Really enjoying. Good, good, good, good. What’s your favorite thing on the menu? I like everything really, but my favorite thing on the menu is tandoori prawn. Tender prawn. Tender prawn. Really? Cuz I love seafood. That’s the king prawn. Okay. Skill fire rice. Okay. Lamb. This is our lip sips. We have got a [ __ ] feast here. I tell you that much for nothing. Wow. This is a joke of a feast. Do you like to try our special? One of the special started. That’s the potato 65. Yeah. Yeah, sure. Yeah, why not? We’re trying to get a few more. I’m going to go a lamb chop first. There we go. I love my chops. And that has got a beautiful marinade on it. This is a little bit of the fish pakoro. That fish, man. Marinated all the way through to the bone. It’s got color in it. It’s got flavor in it. Jesus Christ. I’m in absolute heaven here. This is Marley idea of a very nice day. The Desi Pub, right? Yeah. It’s not all over the UK these. It’s only in certain parts of the UK. It’s mainly in the Midlands, I think, isn’t it? Yeah. Based in the Midlands. Got a big Punjabi Asian population in the Midlands. And it only started with um cheese kebabs, maybe some chicken tikka. They’ll have it in the kitchen. It wasn’t nothing. There was nothing big set up, nothing like that. It’s perfect, isn’t it? It’s like people love curry. People love people love curry. They love watching the footy. It’s like all of it in one place. It’s all in one place. And before it was just the men used to come out. Yeah. Now it’s families. The wife’s happy. She’s with the husband. The husband’s happy. The footy’s on. He’s got a pie and now the kids are happy. They’re all out. It’s something for everyone, isn’t it? Something for everyone. It seems like a special vibe. What a special place, man. Are there wings on here as well? It’s a lovely charred wing. Everything’s great. You know what’s intrigued me since the minute it arrived on the table? These chips. Because look at them coated. Oh my god. Salty, sweet, spicy. I can see why they’re one of the most popular things on the menu. They’ve also given me these fries as well. So, these are a bit drier. Jesus. So good. What is this then? Do you know Jon master? Oh yeah. He was here before a few months and he just recommend every everything 65 to everyone. This one? Yeah, that one. Of course. Cheers, mate. Appreciate it. So apparently Jay Raina came here. I’m never the first to anything. So Jay Raina came here and he highly recommends what’s called the potato 65. So, they just brought it out. There’s steam billowing off it. So, I’m not going to have it just yet. Chef’s favorite was tandoori prawns. Look at these. Look at these guys, man. Where do you start with? You bring me. I know, mate. What you eat? A dusty nan. Not tried it yet, but looks delicious. I’m excited. I think I will be. Yeah. See you in a bit, mate. What I have noticed is that the people in Wolverampton, we’ll just stop here for a chat. So friendly. This is unbelievable. People who come in, is it like a lot of people from South Asian descent or is it more white people within it as well? Cuz we is mainly white people and and Indian people. You know what it is? Wolverampton’s a good multicultural place for us. Like it’s a good community. You know, half the customers know each other. Yeah. Not through friends going that know each other from from the UT. So everyone gets on. So you just feel like bit of a hub for the community. It is. It is definitely. How do you find owning it and like sort of you’re behind the bar, you’re taking calls, you’re serving people. It’s just it’s a buzz. I love it. Yeah. I love it. Yeah. Is that the best part? It is the best part. Yeah. Keeps you young as well. Keeps you healthy fit, you know, running around getting everything done. This is mental. Look at that. This garlic, coriander, chili. What a non bread that is. Not tried the curry yet. The mutton curry. [ __ ] me. I I want to show you how tender that is, but you can probably see that. I don’t know if you can or not, but it literally just flakes apart. The lamb falls apart. This is one of those meals. I mean, this is more than a meal. This is a meal for like eight people for one. I said they can’t eat all of this. But do not worry, it will not go to waste cuz he said this is going to be the chef’s meal as well. So all the chefs are just going to pick at this for the rest of the night too cuz I can’t finish this and then go and play football. I’m playing football later on. You know what I mean? These things here are apparently Jay Rainer’s favorite dish here. What are the potato 65? Well, it’s it’s meant to have like 65 ingredients, different ingredients in there. Really? Yeah. That’s why they call it potato 65. Why? You couldn’t name them all, could you? I couldn’t name them. No, I wouldn’t even try. Romeo, that’s an unbelievable sauce on them. It’s like chili sauce, but it’s so sweet as well. It’s a similar sauce to that one. And this is hilariously good. Tell you what I absolutely love about this place is this multiculturalism. Just people of every color, every creed, every religion just sat in a pub, eating good food, drinking, listening to good tunes. Wolverampton seems to really work as a city. It feels like a big big community. And that’s not something you find in every single city. Some of them are segregated. Some are more segregated than most, especially in 2025. But what I have seen for myself here today in Wampton is the togetherness that is in this city and that feeling of we are one. We are one community. We are all the same. Not had any of this yet. Some sort of [ __ ] stir fried rice thing. It’s like Indian Chinese fusion. Jesus Christ. One thing that I do try and do on this channel is bring people together through a common theme of food. And I absolutely love reading all your comments. I really do. I wouldn’t have come to Wolverampton if I hadn’t read a comment saying, “Oh, you need to try this place, this place, this place in Wolverampton.” So, I’ll read everything. Take it all on board. And who knows, I might visit your city next. I feel like tomorrow morning I could [ __ ] through a tennis racket and not hit a string. If you enjoyed this video, by the way, please do give it a like, comment where you think I should go next, and subscribe for more. And I say it on every video. I want to do this full time. I love meeting these people. I love being in these kitchens. I love seeing these foods being cooked. I love eating it. I love seeing new places. I love it all. But I love more than that showing you all of it. So, please do subscribe. Please do follow along for my journey because I am not stopping, mate. Absolute pleasure. Thank you so much for your speciality, man. Really do appreciate it. Everything was absolutely off the charts. So, right, there we go. That is Wolverampton in a nutshell. I’ve got a feeling, a sneaky suspicion that I’m going to be back here on this channel because I think there’s a lot more to uncover here. I think I’ve just scratched the surface. As with all these places, one day just isn’t enough. But who comes to Wolverampton for a holiday? Nobody. Who comes for a weekend? Maybe someone coming to watch the football, get in the train the next day home hung over. These places though, they’re [ __ ] magic. And this country is magic. And I absolutely love it. I absolutely love it. So see you next time on only scrands.

Battered chips are the best. Majors chippy in Bilston is the best chippy in the UK 😋
I’m from here. It’s a shit hole in places (like anywhere) but it’s got great food and the people are genuine, down to earth people.
The lads at the start are a fantastic example of the people in Wolvo. Bold, funny, kind, down to earth and uses loads of swear words 🤣
The West Midlands is a great place to live. I lived in Canada 13 years and would definitely rather live in this area of England . Great people, loads to do and close to every other county too..
Funny how all the racist Tommy Robinson flag shaggers are no where to be seen in the comments.
To know you been in wolves a day and you feel and see how we are all the same no matter religion or colour shows how every city in the uk should be regardless we do have the best food about slightly biased 😂💙🐺🐺🐺 up the wolves!!!
Well that chippy stands out however we've imported the 3rd world and now we've become the 3rd world THATS FACT
I’ve tried Desi pubs outside Wolverhampton/Black Country, but none have matched what we’ve got. And as cliche as it sounds, I think it’s mainly because it’s really a pub that sells food & not the other way round.
Nice to see the city getting some good PR!
I moved from Wolverhampton 6 years ago… The Yew Tree is one of the things I miss the most, such good food!
Great video. I've been to the Ocean Fryer, the guy is spot on about the football club. It's looking like we're going to be relegated so it'll completely kill the city centre.
The Labour Council has killed Wolverhampton over many years, even going back to 2008 when I was a student, on the weekends the nightlife was thriving. Now everything is gone
Love this and I can say I remember Maliks from childhood. Get a neck of lamb. And honestly have wolverhampton pride to see how the lads have literally gone out and made a name and attracted new custom. Still one of very few long time butcher. And I'm veggi now but chuffed to see this business not only survive but thrive. Hope they never move but expand!
Needed to go to Ashmore chippy!
Architecture is actually sound check out the yanks who have visited and done you tube vids 😅
You needed to keep going in the wulfrun centre and you'd enter the mander center. We do have shops 😅 but due to pedestrianisation regeneration a lot of small business were forced to shut down and we are having to bring back business. And regeneration and investment is very slow and as one section gets done the next goes down. If you are a hippy you'll be happy in wolves.
i left wolves 20 year ago and you make me miss it hahaha- fucking legend you mate , really enjoyed this
Builders Arms next! i live on the same street as that pub
Currently sat in The Slamwich Club in Hanley! Phwoar what a sandwich! Great recommendation!
You don’t get battered chips in West Brom or Great Bridge?!? We’ve had battered chips in West Brom for the whole 41 years of my life
Great Bridge has the best chippy in the Black Country, that guy don’t know what he’s talking about he’s full of it 🤣
Tennis racquet quip 😂
I don't eat orange chips but the plain chips at Ocean chippy are well addictive.
I tried to eat at desi yew tree once…got told there was a 1hr waiting time for a table😮 Went to the Mountain grill instead.
Fair play lad great video, I would say visit West Brom as well but it’s literally all desi pubs 😂
Thanks for a bostin Wolvo video you’ve found a new fan 😁👍
We live in Telford and you have inspired me to goto these places, thanks so much!!
My offices are opposite that chippy. It’s the worst part of the city centre and it’s nowhere near the best chippy but it’s always busy because they’ve kept it great value.
You picked two other absolute stars of the area and there are tons more.
Food is one of the good things we have going on here and that includes some high end pubs in the nice suburbs
Wolves is a great place to live, eat and see great art…
There is also Jamaican, different African,Islamic,Desi Italian, different Chinese and many more that I can't remember.
The Malik Brothers, they need their own Youtube Channel. 😂😂😂
I live in Wolverhampton, and ive never been into these places! 😮
I love Wolverhampton, its a place that is struggling and neglected, but the people just shine
