Hi hi, I’m newer to the hobby and just bought my first nice bike on Thursday! It’s a brand new Salsa Journeyer Sora 700c and it was making this sound on my ride today. I didn’t notice it during my test ride so I just wanted some advice.
- Is this a normal sound for a gravel bike? My previous bike was a used older road bike.
- Any suggestions on what could be causing it?
The shop I purchased it from is closed for the weekend so I just wanted to get some input on if I can still ride it. I’d hate to fuck something up on it if I go for another ride. Thanks!

Sounds like something with your chain is rubbing, hard to tell from the video because you can’t see the drivetrain, big clue is that the noise stops when you stop pedaling. Does it happen in every gear? Does this bike have a front derailleur, I can’t tell from the video, sometimes the chain can rub on that.
