So I was dumping out the water from this yellow toolbox when I found my pedal wrench and decided I had to take the pedals off of this hyper bike. Co. spinner with a Gyro from Walmart that I found on the curb one time. There’s my set up: pedal wrench, power pink bobo crocs, and mat plus grass. One of them was really tricky. I had the frame upside down and it wobbled around and nicked me in the ankle. I got them off, but I’m wondering how do you guys take off stuck pedals when the wheels are already off?

Looking at all the rust, you’ll definitely need some penetrating fluid. Wouldn’t bother wasting my energy without it. Those pedals are seized.

Use the fact that the pedal spindle will turn inside the pedal: Stand on the pedal with it flat on a box or step with the crank and frame dropped down below it. Make sure you work out which way it needs turning then use your other foot to push down on the wrench.

And giving a squirt of Plusgas first never did any harm.

  3. Hear the crank end. Try to get the heat evenly all around the end of the crank. This should expand the crank allowing the pedal to be unscrewed

  4. One of the top five tools in my arsenal is a heavy duty bench vice that is bolted down. I’d check if a neighbor or friend has anything along those lines that might be helpful.

Heat. I’ve had great success with a butane torch very gently heating the crank arm where it meets the pedal spindle. A heat gun is better but not everyone has access to one.

  6. I have an old curtain rod I use as a breaker bar but yeah penetrating oil and standing on the wrench tends to work.
