I’m new to MTB. I’ve been riding since March. I was an avid hard tail gravel rider for 5 years before getting my FS. Took it on green single track from time to time. Got the FS and took some foundations clinics and a couple private lessons.
I spent at least a month on each of these drops before progressing to the next one up. I built up confidence and muscle memory. I never had any issues with any of them. I don’t suffer from nerves. If I question my ability to do something, I simply don’t do it until I have the skills needed.
This was my first time trying this fourth tall one. I was positive it would be no problem. But I can immediately see I’m too tense on the approach. I don’t know why since I was confident going in. And I know other form things went wrong but I’m just trying to pinpoint it.
The two different jump coaches I had gave me conflicting info on how to take drops and so I figured I’d get this community to weigh in.
Is this all just bad form and a bad day? or is there also potentially some suspension dialing in that I need to do. It looks like my left leg just bucks and that is what throws me off.
Help a gal out with some tips for how to beat my newfound yips.

See that party right there where you landed on your face? Yeah that was the wrong part.
Looks like you crashed.
Man it’s hard to tell, but my best guess is your weight was too far forward and you weren’t prepared for the impact.
When you landed, your body weight put a good deal of force on the bars and everything folded after that.
I don’t think you have a strong core. When you land, the brunt of the force goes into your knees and legs. When it goes into your chest, you end up derailing the bike’s direction and twisting the handle bars.

That pop/pre load thing you did before getting of the lip, your back wheel just clips the edge of the ramp, that’s what threw you forward/off balance for the landing
A feature like that you can just ride off for starters
Looks like your legs just gave out. Maybe didn’t brace for the impact correctly?
From the pov you went off slightly sideways…this is extremely common for new bikers when learning drops and jumps. You may have pulled up unevenly? For drops, I like to lower my center of gravity a bit and then push the bike forward…it’s a very common method, a Google search will bring it right up. Keep riding!
Looks like you start straightening out getting too far forward right at 13sec to 14sec
No need to pull up off the end of the ramp. It threw your center of gravity high and off balance.
Just get speed leading up to the ramp, then stay relaxed and athletic (slightly benr elbows and knees) and let the bike do the work.
Preload/attack was off resulting in a rear tire kick. Watch this. https://youtu.be/6nokPHSJ34c?feature=shared
