  1. Report their plates so they can get consequences after. Unfortunately the only prevention is through protected bike lanes so we dont have to interact with cars.

carry a u lock on your handle bars. if they are going to cut it close, They got to know how close they cut it.

  3. I would have tried to slow up more as soon as they were in visibly in your lane. Other than that I think you pretty much handled it as well as you could have and avoided a crash so good job! Defensive driving is the key!

Report them, using the video AND post a video to YouTube with the license plate number in the title.
I hear rumours there’s a campaign to ensure that insurance underwriters check license plate numbers when they’re renewing policies. Don’t we all love some extra judicial justice?

Had a dude roll a stop sign this morning and he didn’t see me even though I was literally right in front of him. Thankfully I was able to get past him and he just barely clipped my back tire. People just fucking suck. You can do everything right but it doesn’t matter if you’re turned into a meat crayon.

  6. Rams seems to have the most reckless/selfish drivers (data supports this, see DUI rates). Glad you didn’t have little ones in the bucket. The unfortunate part of being forced to be a “vehicular cyclist” is accepting that all you can really do is take a deep breath or two and try to let it go. After that, get involved in cycling advocacy and make sure any local officials you vote for are pro-bike.

Rewatched: If you intend to go straight there, I would choose to be in lane position 1 to the left hand side of the lane to try and assert control of the lane. Or be in the right hand side (position 3) and be looking to hop on to the sidewalk and hit the beg button. Lane position 2 (center) is always going to be a bad spot to be in on 2 wheels.

There are plenty of intersections in my city where the bike lane is shared right-turn lane. So cars turning right may get stuck behind bikers going straight. One SUV got so impatient after sitting behind me, they merged left into the straight lane and made the right turn from the straight lane.

  8. There really isn’t much you can do. That driver knew what they were doing. They did it on purpose. They want to try and intimidate cyclists into not riding on the roads.

What you can do is keep riding and not give them the satisfaction of scaring you off the road.

  9.  I just shout profanities. I liked the other idea of an air horn though. A similar thing happened to me yesterday. A car sped up to pass me, only to cut me off to turn right. I was going straight though. It sucked. BTW, how did you film that? I mean, the first part when the camera is facing you and it rotates to the front like it was locked on the truck?
