I noted many adverts on Brompton showing the Brompton being pushed with saddle all the way up. If this were the case, the bike would come unfolded upon bending on the back two wheels as well as nothing locking them in place like this. I was under the impression you need to put the saddle to the locking bolt before pushing it from the saddle.
Any advice or information on this?

You can push from the saddle, you just can’t lift it up. Then it would unfold all over you.
This change with the P line.
Nope. The weight distribution is such that you can totally push it by the saddle as seen in those ads. Try to lift it or tilt it forward and you could run into issues, but rolling flat or tilted back it’s fine.
It works, but small bumps or cracks and it struggles.
If the ads were realistic the bike would regularly tip over on the stock rollers…
yeah there’s no way bromptons little wheels push them as easily and smooth like that, its the wobbliest thing
Depends on the age of your Brompton. Older ones were / are less forgiving as relates to the “seatpost-up-roll-along” method.
At some point, around the time of the switch to C, P, T instead of their old M6L, etc naming they introduced a kind of locking mechanism (albeit only up to about halfway raised) that made things a lot easier.
All this said, you _can_ totally roll the older ones in this way so long as you’re not lifting, or so long as you don’t hit any bumps. Soon as that happens it’s unfolding 😂
This is a feature on the advanced rear frames, it is not possible on older bromptons. It;s a new(ish) feature and it rocks. It is my prefered way to maneouvre the bike when folded.
