I’m having a really hard time finding a decent aluminum fixed gear bike in Atlantic Canada. I bought my first fixed (in the photo above) off Marketplace but it’s heavy, the parts are all no name, and everything creaks even after I gave it a tune up). I’m trying to find a good replacement. I’m thinking Dolan, or Leader, something fast, light, and sexy.

The thing is the only fixed gears available in my town at the LBSs are steel Surlys and one pink All City that’s too big.

There’s almost nothing on Marketplace locally, just one Tsunami that’s the wrong size and some vintage steel conversions.

I’ve looked at ordering from the US, England, Japan and eBay but I’d have to pay hundreds in shipping, plus import fees, plus sales tax, adding $300-$500 to the bill.

I’ve looked at ordering from a store in Montreal or Toronto but there’s hardly anything in stock.

What am I missing? What haven’t I thought of? Any advice appreciated.

(And mods: before this gets deleted and I’m told this should go in the Questions sidebar, I just want to say that the Questions sidebar isn’t there anymore. Or at least it doesn’t show up on iOS.)

  1. It’s probably not to the level you want but I got a regal premium fixie like 12 years ago. Still putting miles on it
Edit: in Ontario but they shipped

  2. Why don’t you check Engine11? It’s a very good brand and if I remember it has shipping to Canada.
