  1. Earlier 2000’s I’d guess. That generation of Deore XT spanned from ’98 to 2003. That geometry is considered sorta obsolete now because it doesn’t really work with a dropper; long seatposts will hit the shock and limit suspension travel.

  2. On top of what Gregn8r1 mentioned. Servicing old mountain bikes can be a hassle. Things like fork or shock rebuild kits can be hard to find. Bearings and bushings can have you hunting through McMaster-Carr or Grainger for equivalent parts. For example had a friend that had 5 bolt disc brake rotors which are annoyingly expensive and sometimes hard to source.
