I noticed these strange marks on my bike lock today. A few days ago I locked my bike up at a train station that everyone says is a magnet for thieves, maybe it came from there? I've also dropped it, used it frequently over the last week or so, etc. I haven't noticed these marks before, any ideas on what happened?

someone tried and bailed. They used a disc grinder with a cutoff wheel from looks of it (not the plastic melting).
Time for a new lock and/or a new lockup point. Good job kryptonite lock, did it’s job. It can now retire.
Definitely an attempt saw/blade situation that they gave up on maybe someone saw em and chased em off, it helps to use 2 locks like a ulock and a chain because more effort and time to cut more stuff is a deterrent to thieves, and probably duct tape over that so it doesn’t give people ideas or draw attention to your bike for future potential thieves
Definitely wasn’t a squirrel. Or even a raccoon.
Looks like it was probably attacked by a *Dromonem manu*. They’ve become more common with the advent of ebikes, the increase in their preferred prey has caused a boom in their population, but they’ll still go after their analog prey as well.
Could be something your own tire did to it technically. I have a cable lock with marks like that where I wore it down when I wasn’t paying attention to how it was stored. So, just eliminate that possibility for yourself.
