My 2016 Pivot Vault has a flexible brake cable noodle running 90degrees from the shifters to the tops. The handle bar is a 3T ergonova pro. Is this turn really so sharp that the brake noodle is necessary? Only asking because I may need to replace it since it has a bunch of rust and gunk from the brake cable I had to pull through it. Thanks

Maybe its there more for maintenance reasons, if the end is outside of the wraps?
Not important at all. Feel free to remove it.
Depends what kind of cable outer you’re using. If it’s compressionless housing then it’s really quite stiff and not great at sharp bends. If it’s regular housing like for a caliper brake then it’s fine. The noodles are pretty cheap on eBay though if you need new ones.
Lots of us just have cable housing.
The noodle seems like a good idea in concept, but maybe not so great in practice.
I have regular housing on mine
SRAM has brake cable kits that include this extra section
Never even encountered this noodle business.
