Hi,

I'm replacing an old Mafac Racer front brake with a Sram Rival brake. In order to fit it against the curved surface of the fork, I intend to keep this specific spacer that the Mafac brake is mounted against (and in the middle is the mount for the front rack)

Is there any risk in mounting the brake this far out from the fork? I reckon there may be more stress on the brake's axle bolt that way.

  1. Sometimes it’s necessary.  It moves that aluminum hunk clear of the headset. If the fork is round but the brake is a flat surface you need it for that too.
