So I was riding a city bike and a truck honked at me and told me I was in the wrong way. So when I was going back I made sure I moved to the other part (second pic) but this is a side walk to me and the rules were that you can’t drive on a side walk. I’m just confused why he said I was in the wrong way

This question depends on your local traffic and bike laws. Consult your city and state.

  2. carbrains, most likely. As long as you ride on the same side of the direction of your travel, it’s fine.

  3. I don’t know what the laws are where you are. But I wouldn’t listen to drivers I’ve had someone yell at me for being on the road and then 30 seconds later I got yelled at for being on the path. Both are legal where I am

Ride where you’re comfortable. The road of course has nearby traffic but you are allowed to ride there, whether clueless drivers admit it or not.

Bikes are probably allowed on that trail as well and there are no annoying drivers yelling at you. You *do* have to give pedestrians, runners, and dog walkers the right of way though.

  5. Drivers are always very confident that the only legal place for you to be is “out of my damn way, so I don’t have to think about your existence.” Not the best people to take cycling advice from.
