Visited my grandparents house some 5 years ago and thought I would ride my grandpas bike that he bought in the early 90s. After pumping the tires up I quickly realized the tires were the originals and they burst at the seam. The bike was then put into the corner and not touched. A few months ago I pulled it out of the garage and decided I would bring it home and fix it up.
Frame Mongoose IBOC.
Drive train – Microshift advent with a big ol gear for climbing SF streets.
Soma rear rack, bars, and brake levers. (Soma parts are amazing value items)
I played around with saddle options but finally decided to go with what was originally on it. The og saddle with the Sherpa cover. Idk when my grandparents bought the cover but I am surprised I don’t see more of them on this sub.

Sometimes folks throw shade on mongoose bikes but I’ve had one for a number of years and I like it as much as a trek that I also have. Yours looks nice and comfy. Enjoy the ride in grandpas honor.
Clever use of the stem riser with the hidden bolt synchro’s stem, looks really clean.
