Can’t believe I’m posting this… this frame is toast right? Maybe repairable? Brand new specialized epic evo that was sitting next to a bike with a shotgun seat on it for a 4 hour drive including some bumpy roads. Looks like the shotgun seat foot rest (presumable made of steel) was bashing the carbon frame on every bump along the way and the carbon clearly has severe impact damage.
Assuming this is done, think specialized will warranty it? Or at least cut me a discount?

Id send it
Guh. I don’t see how they’ll warranty this, it’s a not a defect. The store or specialized may feel bad and offer a discount. Dang.
Definitely not a warranty, but potentially a crash replacement but the discount can vary wildly so I can’t say if it’s worth it. Doesn’t hurt to ask.
However I would just have it repaired. Id charge 400$ in my shop to fix that with non matching paint and i doubt you will get a crash replacement frame for less than that.
Yeah it’s done. Spec is pretty good about offering crash replacement for stuff like this, definitely not a full warranty situation though.
Outer layer of carbon fiber frames is sacrificial and not structural. I’d ride it, but lesson learned on bike transport…
I’m a carbon repair shop owner. It’s absolutely repairable. Not a big deal. You will be back to shredding in no time. Just use a reputable shop.
I’d lightly sand and fill with epoxy and ride. That’s a stress area.
That can be carbon repaired. I mean obviously a cost and hassle you weren’t looking for, but it’s not like you need to buy a whole new frame.
I repaired a 1” crack in a carbon Le Mond frame, close to the BB, using a legit carbon repair kit. It is barely noticeable. Have ridden it hard as a trainer with no recurring crack, for over a year. Kit cost <$50, and learning took place.
What am I looking at, how are the two pictures related? I see the scuff mark on the first.
